Why Fledge Tuition?

At Fledge, we believe that all children deserve the opportunity to reach their full potential. For this reason, we are striving to create a fairer tuition market and tackle education in-equality.

Currently, more than a quarter of secondary school pupils in England and Wales have received private tuition, according to research published by the Sutton Trust.

The highest levels are in London - with 41% of secondary pupils receiving extra lessons outside of school. The problem is with costs of at least £25 - £35 per session, many parents can't afford it, and only a small percentage of children, therefore, benefit.

With tutoring being seen as a hidden factor in higher exam results, we know there is an unfair advantage. Extra help not only gives students a boost in academic sets, but also helps them to achieve higher grades, and ultimately gain access to better universities.

With this in mind, our online group-learning model has been created to help every student, access private tuition no matter where they live. Our students are placed in same-ability sets of three and share the cost of the tuition fees evenly amongst their group. So tuition that usually costs £35 an hour can now be as low as £10 an hour.

By making private tuition more affordable, we are aiming to make it more achievable to families who want private tuition to be a part of their child's educational life.

And as part of our commitment to tackling education in-equality, we will also use 10% of our profits to fund tuition for children from low-income families so that everyone has a fair chance when it comes to education.
