+ What are your safeguarding policies?

In accordance with the requirements of the DfE ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance, we undertake several checks for all tutors that provide tuition for and on behalf of schools.

Our Safeguarding policies are available here, but broadly, all of our tuturs:

  • Have their photographic ID checked
  • Provide evidence of their relevant qualifications
  • Provide evidence of a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) certificate
  • Explicitly agree to our Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct (available here)
  • Provide evidence of an enhanced DBS check, as detailed below, that is no more than three years old

Disclosure and Barring Service

All Fledge Tuition tutors that provide tuition for schools have Enhanced DBS clearances which cover the following areas:

  • Any police records of convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings
  • Information from the list held under Section 142 of the Education Act 2002
  • Children’s Barred List Information – this would show if an applicant is Barred from working with children
  • Any other relevant information disclosed at the Chief Police Officer(s) discretion. Under this section would be noted “soft information”. This could be details of a household member (other than the applicant) who may have a record that would contain information that an employer would need to be aware of. An example of this may be a household member who has drug activity.

+ How do you send the Letter of Assurance?

We usually email a scanned copy, but the Letter of Assurance can be posted on request.

+ Are you GDPR compliant?

Yes, we take data protection law very seriously and regularly run Data Protection Impact Assessments, have strong Information Security controls, and only process the minimum amount of personal data in order to facilitate our service.

We provide a template Letter of Consent for schools to send to parents/carers prior to releasing any personal data to us, and we only ask to recieve basic academic information about students that is used to help us select the most appropriate tutors. For example, subject of tuition, current level, etc.

For further information, please review our Privacy information or email us on privacy@fledgetuition.com.

+ Are your tuition programmes measured for effectiveness?

Yes! Our experienced teachers monitor student progress and engagement throughout the programme and report progress to you weekly. We also measure student confidence before and after each of our tuition programmes. This allows us to provide clarity for schools over the impact of their investment in our tuition.

+ Will tuition programmes with Fledge dominate school staff time?

No! Our onboarding and set-up process is simple and requires schools to complete a short data survey. Once set-up information is provided we take care of the rest (scheduling, parent and student comms, delivery and reporting).

+ How can you help us support our disadvantaged students?

We appreciate that not all students have access to devices or internet. We have a fleet of managed laptops that can be shipped out to your school and provided to the students that need them. We can also provide wireless hotspots. Everything is tested and supported by our technicians, who can speak to parents directly if there are any problems.
